Today, we recognize International Sex Workers’ Day.
We celebrate the strength, resilience, and humanity of sex workers across the world. Behind every label is a human being – a woman, a mother, a sister, a provider- deserving of dignity, safety, healthcare, and protection under the law. Sex workers are part of our communities. They deserve freedom from violence, stigma, discrimination, and harassment. Criminalization does not protect them – it pushes them further into unsafe conditions, limits access to justice, and increases vulnerability.
Today, we also call on legal practitioners, policymakers, and human rights defenders to prioritize the decriminalization of sex work. Decriminalization is not about promoting exploitation – it is about protecting human rights, improving access to healthcare, reducing violence, and ensuring safety.
No woman should be denied healthcare.
No woman should be denied justice.
No woman should be unsafe because of her means of survival.
As we continue to advocate for inclusive, friendly healthcare services and the protection of vulnerable women and girls, we stand in solidarity with sex workers everywhere.
Dignity is not selective. Human rights are not conditional.
