About Us
Our primary priorities encompass contributing to the reduction of human rights abuses and violations, alongside promoting equal rights for women and girls. We strive to enhance the representation of vulnerable women and girls in society, addressing the issues that affect them directly, and improving the sexual and reproductive health of this demographic.
WHO WE ARE
We are a female sex worker led organization established to increase access of vulnerable women and girls to human rights, Sexual and Reproductive Health Services/HIV programming, legal services, advocacy, economic strengthening, gender programming in Africa.
HER STORY
The Committed Soul Women Health Advocacy Africa Initiative (COSWOHI) was established in 2016 by passionate female sex workers in Oyo State who courageously stood up against the injustices prevalent in brothels. They united with their peers, developed their capacities, and embarked on a mission to advocate for vulnerable women and girls, ensuring their access to human rights and sexual reproductive health information and services.
Formally registered with the Oyo State Government (OYSG) in 2017, COSWOHI aims to enhance the availability of human rights and sexual reproductive health services for vulnerable women and girls across Nigeria. Our multifaceted approach includes service delivery, public education, advocacy, and engagement with stakeholders. Among Our key objectives are:
- Reducing HIV/AIDS prevalence: COSWOHI advocates for and facilitates access to HIV/STI prevention services and information for the most at-risk populations (MARPs) at both state and national levels.
- Documenting human rights violations: We provide free paralegal and legal services to victims, regardless of age, sex, gender, social strata, physical ability, or sexual orientation.
- Expanding influence: Over the years, We have extended our reach to serve female sex workers not only in Oyo State but also in Osun State and Kwara State, Nigeria.
Our unwavering commitment continues to make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable women and girls in Nigeria.
